SXSW Live on Roku

South by Southwest, the annual festival of music, tech and most things geeky-cool (imagine a Southern-fried Comic-Con with less cosplay and more hipsters) kicks off later this week in Austin, and just in time for the crowds to invade Texas, the organizers have come up with a way for folks at home to enjoy the action. Without having to book a flight, that is.

Starting today, Roku users will be able install SXSW On, a free on-demand channel devoted to bringing the South by Southwest experience into our homes, via a slate of programs exclusive to the custom-designed channel. Among them: SXSW Live, which will showcase concert performances, filmmaker interviews and panel sessions from this year’s event; The Road, a look at the life of touring musicians; and The Nom Nom, a rundown of restaurants favored by artists and top chefs from around the country.

In addition, there will also be looks at emerging technologies, independent films and music, updates on the world of gaming, and archival content. So if you enjoyed a bit too much Southern comfort of the liquid variety during past festivals and can’t remember that band you saw that night when you were hanging with those people, there’s a good chance it’s here for ya!

To get your hands on SXSW On, you can find it on the Roku Channel Store, or go to sxsw.com/on.

In honor of Days‘ golden anniversary, we have many great clips handpicked by the cast, including Deidre Hall, Kristian Alfonso, and executive producer Ken Corday. Stay tuned. More to come!
