College Basketball Conference Tournament Finals, Saturday, March 14

While armchair odds-makers anxiously await the announcement of the brackets on “Selection Sunday” tomorrow (6/5c, CBS), a flurry of conference tournament finals will keep hoops fans occupied through the day. Saturday’s finals include Conference USA (3:30/2:30c, Fox Sports 1), Mountain West (6/5c, CBS), Big 12 (6/5c, ESPN), Mid-American Conference (7:30/6:30c, ESPN2), Big East (8/7c, Fox Sports 1), Southland Conference (9:30/8:30c, ESPN2), Pac-12 (11/10c, ESPN), Big West (11:30/10:30c, ESPN2)—with perhaps the biggest draw being the Atlantic Coast Conference (8:30/7:30c, ESPN), where Virginia—the ACC regular-season champion for two years running—was favored going into the tournament, but upset by North Carolina in Friday’s semifinals. We all know how dreams can be dashed at in March. That’s why we watch.
