Wyatt Cenac: Brooklyn (Netflix)

Wyatt Cenac spent childhood summers with his grandmother in Brooklyn back when the only handmade, gluten-free treats on sale there were drugs. Now a successful comedian in his 30s, he lives in the New York City borough full time near an artisanal mayonnaise shop. Yes, that’s a store that only sells fancy mayonnaise. So the neighborhood has changed. In Wyatt Cenac: Brooklyn, the standup shares memories of both Brooklyn old (when his grandmother was robbed by her neighbor) and new (when he’s constantly encountering hipster parents who bring babies to bars). Cenac covers dating, Batman, Hurricane Sandy and more. He also gets some help occasionally…from cardboard cutouts and a puppet.
