No way! Christmas caroling is for people who floss—or so say the Belcher kids on Bob’s Burgers. The Fox cartoon’s holiday episode (airing Sunday, Nov. 27) finds parents Bob and Linda strapped for money and unable to give their offspring a proper Christmas, so Linda decides to lift everyone’s spirits by insisting they all go caroling. Bob, alas, is a last-minute no-show because he’s paged to the home of his filthy-rich landlord, Mr. Fischoeder, voiced by Oscar winner Kevin Kline.

“There’s a sinister Eyes Wide Shut vibe happening at Fischoeder’s house, with all these old-money gentlemen in tuxedos involved in something suspicious,” says creator and exec producer Loren Bouchard. “It turns out they’re competing in a secret underground gingerbread house–building contest.”

How the show landed the reclusive Kline, who rarely accepts work, is kind of a secret too. “He turns down so many jobs that people in the business call him Kevin de-Kline,” says Bouchard. “We keep asking ourselves, ‘How did this happen?’ But we’ve done several episodes with him and he keeps showing up. We’re tickled by it, always.”
