The Americans (10/9c, FX): The screws are tightening on our favorite family of Soviet spies as the fourth (and arguably best) season of this taut thriller concludes. Potential game-changers loom as the Feds close in on disgruntled scientist William (Dylan Baker) and his lethal bio-weapon package. And while the unsuspecting few are tuned in to watch the local Redskins suffer a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Raiders in Super Bowl XVIII, a game with much higher stakes is playing out in the dark shadows of international espionage. Best news regarding The Americans: FX has confirmed there will be two more seasons worth of story before it’s all over.

2016 CMT Music Awards (8/7c, CMT): Another week, another country awards show. But a true show-stopper may be in the offing, given the latest scuttlebutt that during this year’s live ceremony (from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena), CMT may announce that it has picked up a fifth season of ABC’s recently canceled musical soap Nashville, keeping it local and causing fans to rejoice. Does this mean we can expect to see an impromptu group sing involving Rayna, Deacon, Juliette, Avery, Will, Gunnar and Scarlett? That would be fun. In the meantime, you may just have to settle for the likes of Carrie Underwood, and pairings including Little Big Town and Pharrell Williams, Pitbull with Leona Lewis and Cassadee Pope, Dierks Bentley with Elle King, Billy Ray Cyrus with Cheap Trick, Blake Shelton and The Oak Ridge Boys, and Fifth Harmony with Cam. Hosts for the event are Dancing With the Stars’ Erin Andrews and Houston Texans’ J.J. Watt.

Inside Wednesday TV: ABC has to be hoping there’s some juice left in the Cavaliers to avoid a sweep in the NBA finals, which continue with Game 3 (9/8c). But first, another edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live’s “Game Night” (8/7c), with a visit from the female Ghostbusters (Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones). … What’s scarier than a mutant Abby on Fox’s ridiculous Wayward Pines (9/8c)? How’s about the return of ferocious Nurse Pam (Melissa Leo)?
