Broadway vet Taye Diggs may be heading to NCIS, but can he sing a sexy “Happy Birthday” song?

The long-running CBS procedural is celebrating its landmark 300th episode on Tuesday, March 15 with a very special guest spot by Taye Diggs (Murder in the First) as a musician-turned-soldier suffering from PTSS after a deadly ambush in Iraq.

Diggs’ character is convalescing in a cutting edge music therapy program (based on a real incentive to help rehabilitate soldiers) when Gibbs (Mark Harmon) needs his help to solve the team’s latest murder case. “For our 300th episode, we needed a guest actor who could proudly portray one of our nation’s wounded warriors as well as participate in a very touching musical performance,” NCIS executive producer Gary Glasberg said in a statement. “This emotionally-charged role is tailor made for Taye Diggs and we are so thrilled and honored to have him join us.”
