What’s Worth Watching: Shondaland dramas on on ABC for Thursday, November 19

Grey's Anatomy, Ellen Pompep
ABC/Vivian Zink
GREY’S ANATOMY – “Something Against You” – The team of doctors work on a high stakes case of a long time patient, adding additional pressure to an already tense environment. Meanwhile, Bailey wants Ben to kick out their new roommate, and Arizona is eager to get back into the dating world with a new wingman, on “Grey’s Anatomy,” THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12 (8:00–9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. ELLEN POMPEO

Grey’s Anatomy, “Things We Lost in the Fire” (Thursday, Nov. 19, 8/7c ABC)

Scandal, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” (Thursday, Nov. 19, 9/8c, ABC)

How to Get Away With Murder, “What Did We Do?” (Thursday, Nov. 19, 10/9c, ABC)

Drop everything if you haven’t seen the hysterical Billy on the Street segment in which Billy Eichner leads the very and vocally willing Amy Sedaris on a wild obstacle course through a mock Shondaland complete with horny nurses, gratuitous gay couplings and a water slide powered by Kerry Washington-aka-Olivia Pope’s tears. You may cry laughing as well.

All of which is preface to the unhappy fact that after this week, the Shonda Rhimes Thursday crazy train is taking a “winter finale” pause for the holidays. This no doubt means even more heightened cliffhangers than usual, and in a long-promised reveal, some critical intel on just who shot Annalise (Emmy winner Viola Davis) in this season’s frantic overarcing mystery on How to Get Away With Murder. After last week’s insanely sexy montage—can Billy Brown’s abs qualify for some sort of special Emmy?‑anything less would be an anticlimax.

Before that, Grey’s Anatomy signs off with the usual dosage of rom-com shenanigans, interrupted by an influx of wounded firefighters. And as Owen (Kevin McKidd) comes to blows with new hottie surgeon Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson), we might finally get more insight on what created such bad blood between them. And Scandal, as madcap and maddening as ever, teases a new display of ousted First Lady Mellie’s (Bellamy Young) power, while the evil Eli/Rowan/Papa Pope (Joe Morton) is in the clutches of Huck (Guillermo Diaz), making us wonder if he can escape with all of his dental work intact. Life will seem so tame with these shows off the air until the new year.
