Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie, The Last Man on Earth) will next tackle time travel.

Lord and Miller are developing the comedy In Time at Fox, along with writer Julius Sharpe (The Grinder). The single-camera sitcom will follow the exploits of three friends with mundane lives in the present who wind up experiencing the adventure of time travel.

Fox has given a “put pilot” order to the show, which means the network will pay a hefty penalty if a pilot is not produced. 20th Century Fox TV is the studio.

Despite the time travel storyline, there’s no Back to the Future connection, even if this news is coming out on Oct. 21, 2015–the famed futuristic date that Marty McFly travels to in Back to the Future 2. In other words, don’t go looking for a DeLorean.

At Fox, Lord and Miller are also developing the animated project Son of Zorn, starring Jason Sudeikis, Cheryl Hines, Tim Meadows, Johnny Pemberton and Artemis Pebdani. Separate from that, Lord and Miller are adapting the podcast Serial into a TV show for Fox 21 TV Studios; that project will be shopped to cable networks.

Sharpe’s other credits include Family Guy and The Cleveland Show.
