My Obsessions: Jim Gaffigan Loves Ricky Gervais and ‘Game of Thrones’

Jim Gaffigan
Comedy Central

Jim Gaffigan is currently showcasing his comedic chops on TV Land’s The Jim Gaffigan Show, playing a version of himself as a lovably lazy Homer Simpson-esque dad. Gaffigan took a quick break to share his own TV-viewing routine.

The device I watch on
A good old-fashioned television.

The funniest person on TV is
Ricky Gervais. He consistently does performances that are hysterical and empathetic and compassionate.

The only news show that matters
I feel like I have to watch all of them. Aren’t you supposed to?

Who I watch with
My wife, Jeannie Gaffigan

What I eat while watching
The question should be what I don’t eat. It’s weird to watch TV and not eat. What would I do with my hands?

The show I miss most
The Wire. I feel like it counted as reading a novel, too.

The show I’d like to guest star on
Game of Thrones. I’d play a really good, evil, great-looking Lannister.

My dream costar
Jeannie. I mean, she is my costar in everything else.

My celebrity crush
What Mike White did with Enlightened, the writing and the performance, was frighteningly brilliant. It’s a talent crush.
