BEVERLY HILLS, CA - JULY 18: Actor Rick Cosnett speaks onstage at the "The Flash" panel during the CW Network portion of the 2014 Summer Television Critics Association at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on July 18, 2014 in Beverly Hills, California.

When The Flash returns on January 24 so will a familiar face. Rick Cosnett announced on Twitter Monday that he will be returning to The CW show in its third season.

“Hate to tease you but now I can say it: I’m coming back on #TheFlash,” the actor tweeted.

Cosnett played Detective Eddie Thawne on the series before the character sacrificed himself in the Season 1 finale. Thawne also appeared in the show’s second season when Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash (Grant Gustin) traveled back in time. No word yet on how or when Thawne will make his return to the series.

News about Cosnett’s return spread quickly, and fans of The Flash were happy to hear about it.
