Excellent, Smithers.

Fox has just announced that The Simpsons has been picked up for two more seasons—its 29th and 30th—which means that Homer and company will make history once again. The cartoon stalwart is already the longest-running animated series of all time and with this renewal taking the show to 669 produced episodes, that means it will also achieve the largest number of episodes for any scripted TV series ever and break Gunsmoke‘s record of 635.

“Congratulations to everyone who works on this groundbreaking series,” said Gary Newman and Dana Walden, the chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group in the statement released Friday. “From the voice cast and producers to the writers and production team, you comprise one of the greatest collections of creative talent in the history of the medium. And to the millions of Simpsons fans around the world, thank you for watching all these years. We’re happy to tell you there’s lots more to come.”

The Simpsons airs Sundays at 8/7c on Fox. For apparently the rest of time.
